Using Haiku LMS

I am embarrassed that I let so much time go by since my last Blog entry. The summer is busy for all of us, even when school is not in session. Bryan and I were fortunate to meet many of our haiku-ers at NECC in Atlanta this past June. Thanks to all of those who stopped by to say hi. Current users will be pleased to know that your love for haiku LMS doesn’t define you as unusual. While at NECC we were overwhelmed with the amazing response to haiku LMS v2.0. Having launched version two about one week before the conference, we were excited and a little apprehensive about what the response would be. Little did we know that educators from across the country have been longing for something so fast, easy and intuitive.

I still smile when I think about the many amazing teachers, professors, administrators and technology evangelists we met at NECC who raved about haiku LMS. Of course now everyone is eagerly awaiting the launch of the Gradebook and Assessment tools. Both are in the pipeline for a late fall release. Stay tuned. You’re going to love them.

Teachers sometimes ask when they can tell their school district personnel about the corporate version. Good news! We just launched the Corporate Dashboard, giving administrative staff the tools they need to upload all Classes and Educator accounts and to populate class Rosters automatically. Be sure to Contact Us if you want a tour of the Corporate Dashboard and to learn how cost effective and easy it is to get a haiku LMS account for every educator in your school, district, college or campus.

This week we launched haiku LMS district-wide at Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township and at a Bethany Christian School in northern Indiana. Lawrence Township has 1,000 educator licenses and Bethany has 25. Whatever your size, location or level of sophistication, haiku LMS is the perfect fit as an eTeaching and communication tool.

We also get inquiries periodically from corporate trainers and HR people at larger companies. As you know, haiku LMS is designed for educators. That said, when we launched haiku LMS v2.0 we included a way for you to control which features are available on each class site. Under Class Management you can add/remove access to the Calendar, Announcements, Discussions, Dropbox and Inbox features. We’ll add the Gradebook and Assessment tools to the list when they launch this fall. One school administrator uses this functionality to remove the all of these features and uses that “class” website to publish the Superintendent’s newsletter. Visitors to the site do not see the Calendar or the Connect tab. Can you think of an easier way to publish an online newsletter? You haiku-ers are a genius bunch.
