Inevitably a student fails to memorize or write down their username and or their password, at that point what can we do to help them out. I see no option for management of the roster that includes resetting the student log-in information. What are the alternatives to deleting the student and re-enrolling them?

Hi,
We would be willing to help that student (or you out), please give us a call at 574-538-2325 and we can resolve the situation..
We have recently brainstormed a solution on how to help students who do not have an email address and have forgotten their username or password, and we will be implementing it an upcoming version. For now, however, it is handled on a case-by-case basis.
FYI: Some of our teachers of classrooms with younger students quite often maintain a list of student usernames and passwords separate from haiku, and that way they can remind the child if they have forgotten how to access their account.

Bryan, Thank you for
Bryan,
Thank you for taking my call today. The two students that I have who have 'forgotten' their username/password indicated to me that they do have the haikuls.com email responses on their private accounts at home and will be able to have the info later today - so that should fix the problem. However, as I indicated in our phone conversation, a quick and easy way for an instructor to manage the student's password feature would be helpful.
A series of security questions during registration would be helpful and streamline the accountability process, allowing the student to solve their own problem on their own time.
Also, is there a way to give a student a 'second-chance' at an assessment after the assessment has expired and at a reduced possible score?
Thanks for your help,

Thomas, After talking over
Thomas,
After talking over the problem of lost student passwords (especially in cases where students don't have access to email at school or don't have an email address) we've come up with a plan to let teachers help students reset their passwords in certain situations. We'll be trying to work this improvement into our schedule and will let you know once it's ready for prime time.
As far as second-chances on Assessments you can currently allow a student to take an Assessment multiple times, however, the student must complete all attempts before the Assessment closes and the scores from each attempt are averaged into one final grade. Once an exam has closed students won't be able to take it any more times. If you want to give a student a 2nd chance you could simply re-open the Assessment. If you want 'second-chance' attempts to be worth less you can adjust the final score by hand.
